The name Blender was inspired by a song by the Swiss electronic band Yello, from the album Baby, which NeoGeo used in its showreel. Version 1.00 was released in January 1995, with the primary author being company co-owner and software developer Ton Roosendaal. To get the previous versions of Blender, go here. Many people didn't know you could download previous versions of Blender and/or where to go to download it. In a lot of cases, there simply isn't time or budget to deal with this overhead of getting old assets to work in the new pipeline or recreate assets (and finding and staffing the talent to do so.) They can't use the new versions because the features they built their pipeline on is deprecated or works differently.
